Taking care of your tree in its container
WATERING YOUR TREE IN ITS CONTAINER
Remove the protective bubble wrap envelope from the seedling container and discard it.
Stick to the following watering schedule, even if it rains:
Winter (Late November-February): Water all tree sizes once a week.
Fall/Spring: Water all tree sizes twice weekly.
Summer (July-September): Water all tree sizes every three days
Fill the container to the rim with water, and allow the excess water to drain through the bottom. Do not allow water to stand along the bottom of the container. For larger containers, fill to about 2/3 full from the top.
WHERE TO PLACE YOUR TREE WHILE IN ITS CONTAINER
Make sure your Century Tree seedling’s container is located in full sunshine.
In case of freezing weather, bring your seedling indoors so it doesn’t freeze. Once the temperature warms up, it can be returned outside.
Make sure your Century Tree seedling is out of reach of curious pets and livestock. Do not let pets or livestock chew, urinate, or otherwise investigate your new tree.
ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS
Watch out for insects that could be munching on your Century Tree seedling, particularly during the fall and spring months. If you see insects like aphids, spray the tree’s leaves with Neem Oil, following the instructions on the label.
Do not add any fertilizer products to your tree while in its container. Learn more about fertilizing your tree once it’s been planted in the ground for six months or more.
Water your tree before a freeze. Water your tree a day before freezing temperatures are expected to better insulate and protect your tree from the cold.
Check for white powdery mildew throughout the year, which can also be treated with Neem Oil.
